A few caches placed in Sussex of rare birds not found in the UK but native to NEW ZEALAND but on
The endangered list and may be extinct if not helped.
Kiwis are flightless birds endemic to New Zealand.
At around the size of a domestic chicken, kiwi are by far the smallest living ratites and lays the largest egg in relation to their body size.
There are five recognised species, all of which are endangered; all species have been adversely affected by historic deforestation but currently large areas of their forest habitat are well protected in reserves and national parks; at present, the greatest threat to their survival is predation by invasive mammalian species. That man has brought into New Zealand.
The kiwi is a national symbol of New Zealand - indeed, the association is so strong that the term Kiwi is used, all over the world to describe New Zealanders
The GPS signal may not be good due to tree cover, so I have given good clues.
The caches are all hidden beside public footpaths or bridleways.
This cache is on a footpath that starts at Grouse Road near the T junction with Blackhouse Road.
You can easily park and the bottom of the little hill in Blackhouse Road 150 yards away and it a short walk to the start of the footpath.
