schon. |
The Fulda is a 220 km long river, which rises in the hessian
part of the Röhn on the Wasserkuppe mountain. The river ends in the
town of Hannoversch Münden where the rivers Fulda and Werra join
together. The new River caused there, is the Weser and flows into
theNorth Sea. |
The Fulda spring (Measuring point
for temperature and photo location)
The Fulda spring is a border spring. In a border spring, ground
water collects inside earth's interior in a water-permeable layer
on a impermeable material which is usually shaped as hollows. When
the water reached the horizon of the jam layer it's brought to
outflow.Groundwater seepage is a source of the Fulda spring, which
flows slowly through the soil after precipitation and is collected
in the fractured volcanic rocks of the Wasserkuppe mountain as in a
sponge and is dammed by the impermeable layers. The clear, cold and
fresh water at the spring is very popular with hikers and bikers,
so don't be shy and try it yourself. |
part of the geological chart
To solve the tasks, you need a compass, a thermometer a 5
liter bucket and a stopwatch. |
Please solve the following questions and tasks: |
- What are the impermeable layers of this spring made of?
- What is the height shows your GPS at the given coordinates
and
which connection has this height with the Fulda spring?
- Which temperature in °C has the water at the
opening of the spring?
- In which direction flows
the water in the first 10 meters (e.g. from north-west to
south-east)?
- Determine the amount of water
at the source. Place the bucket at a suitable
position and measure now the time needed to
the fill the bucket. Now
count, how many liters per hour flow
from the spring.
- Take a photo of you next to
the spring (optional-no obligation).
