Geocache Description:

Small (180ml) Lock & Lock container hidden in Lyle Park with river view. No need to go off the path - the park is accessible though the cache might be hard to reach.

Lyle Park was gifted by what was then Abraham Lyle & Son, manufacturer of Golden Syrup in 1924. They later joined with Henry Tate and Sons and became Tate & Lyle which is clearly visible to the east and dominates North Woolwich.

There's no Thames path along this stretch due to industrial sites - this is one of the few places to get to the edge of the water for good, though admittedly not picturesque, views. The park is well kept and has always been much less busy than the nearby Thames Barrier Park when I've visited.

The park also contains a large set of wrought iron gates - formerly the entrance to Harland & Wolff Ltd, ship builders which was a few miles to the east. (See picture)

Cache is placed with permission of Newham Parks team and accordingly will not require you to trample the flowerbeds. You will though need to walk to the end of the paved area.

The opening hours are 0700 (0800 Sundays and Bank Holidays) to dusk (1645 winter, 2115 in June).
