This multicache is intended to be completed
by a rowing boat. Mechanical water transport means might got stuck
in water-plants but trying to access the stages from a coast could
turn out an unpleasant adventure. The cache will be closed during a
winter season.
Kisezers ir viens no lielakajiem ezeriem pie Rigas. Ta videjais
dzilums ir 2.4 m, bet maksimalais dzilums 4.2 m. Ezeram ir vairakas
salas. Tas ir caurteces ezers, kas agrak caur Langas upiti ieteceja

The Kisezers Lake is one of the biggest lakes
near the Riga city. An average depth is 2.4 m but maximal depth
reaches 4.2 m. There are several islands in the lake. This is a
running-water lake. Formerly it used to flow through the Langa
River to the Gauja River. Now it is connected with the Daugava
River through an artificial channel in Mangalsala. NE, E and SA
coast sections are included in the Jaunciems Nature Restricted
Area, where one can see the big Dune of Suzi and the Bulduri Castle
Mound. On the W coast of the lake there are situated the Riga Zoo,
the leisure complex Mezaparks and the golf club Ozo. The water in
the Kisezers is in brown colour. In the lake live many species of
fishes, beavers, swans, podiceps cristatus, wild ducks, etc.
Go to the start coordinates and find a
container with coordinates for the next stage. Having got there,
you will find a container with further directions. Thus you have to
go through 4 stages until you get the coordinates for the final
container. All the stages and the final one can be reached most
comfortably over the water using a boat. Most preferable and
quickest ones are sea-kayaks; you just need some paddling skills to
manage. Before you go for paddling, be sure you know the weather
forecast and wind strength is good enough, check it at Windguru (take a spot:
Kisezers). This journey can turn out an extreme adventure for
survival if the wind is too strong. An average length of the
distance is about 18 km over the water that may be done in 3 - 4
hours.
Recommendations:
- Plan this kayaking as a whole day trip and enjoy the Kisezers in
whole its attraction - the lake and waves, wind and sun,
waterlilies and water birds;
- Pack you things and GPS in waterproff drybags, fasten them to
yourself or to your boat;
- Don't forget to be careful at the birds’ nesting places, do
not disturb them, and keep to the regulations of the Jaunciems
Nature preserve;
- Wear footwear; do not go on coasts barefooted;
- Do not forget to use sun block;
- In case you do not want to go by a rowing boat, this geocache is
not for you...
