In honour of Team Marzipan's GC1KNRB Phooning around in Chester, Team SLuG bring you a Wigan phoon cache.
“The Face of Wigan” is a 5.5 metre stainless steel statue designed by Rick Kirby:
"The face is a play on the many portraits and busts of the ‘good and glorious’ that adorn the parks and centres of every town and city throughout Britain.
The sculptured portrait is intended to represent not a single celebrity, but all of the inhabitants of the area, the very people of Wigan.
These are the people who make the place what it is today, and indeed have the power to determine what it will be in the future."
Well, the future is.....
the phoon!
You will require a partner (or passing muggle) to take your phoon photo. As one takes the picture, the other poses and then vice versa. You do not need the area empty to do the phoon - we suggest you find and sign the cache, then do the phoon pic, as after this you might be getting a few strange looks! The more bemused muggles in the picture the better!
Rules for the Phoon pose:
- Stand sideways to the camera. (A Phoon is always viewed from the side.)
- Bend your arms at the elbows. (Look like an athletic runner, not a ballerina.)
- Lift your rear elbow (not your hand) so that it is easy to see behind your back.
- Lean forward at the waist. This will help you look more energetic and will help you lift your rear ankle.
- Bend at the knee, the leg you're standing on.
- When possible, do not look at the camera and do not smile.
- Either arm can be the rear arm.
- Either leg can be the rear leg.
- And don't tip over!
Warning: Please watch out for muggles; this is a busy area by the Civic Centre, and the muggle factor is high! Please be careful retrieving the cache, but don't worry about muggles on the photo - the more bemused muggles the better!
The phoon photo should include the front of The Face, as indicated below. You may pheel a little phoolish, but just go out and have some phoon!
Congratulations to tHe_cAcHe_mOnKeY (and Team Tyrer) for the FTF!
