Este trilho começa junto do Parque Florestal (Trupes do Capelo), termina no Núcleo Museológico dos Capelinhos e tem a duração total de 2h30m. Durante o percurso, existem dois desvios circulares que permitem aceder a dois cones vulcânicos, como se pode observar no mapa. O trilho inicia-se por um caminho alcatroado que se torna em terra batida mais à frente e sobe lentamente até ao Cabeço Verde (cone vulcânico com caldeira no interior). Na primeira bifurcação, deve prosseguir pela direita até ao cimo do vulcão e depois circundar a caldeira. Quando retornar à base do Cabeço Verde deve virar à direita, prosseguindo para o Caldeirão. Logo a seguir há uma entrada que lhe permite ir até à Furna Ruim. Nesse local deve tomar cuidado ao aproximar-se da berma. Continue depois pelo trilho principal, este prossegue contornando o Caldeirão pela esquerda. No cruzamento seguinte, se seguir em frente pode subir até ao Cabeço do Canto, onde se desfruta um excelente miradouro sobre o vulcão dos Capelinhos. Deve voltar depois novamente ao trilho e seguir pela direita até ao Núcleo Museológico dos Capelinhos. O percurso atravessa três Zonas de Reserva: Zona de Protecção Especial, Sítio de Interesse Comunitário e Zona de Paisagem Protegida. This trail starts at the Forest Park (Trupes do Capelo), finishes at the Núcleo Museológico dos Capelinhos and has the total duration of 2h30m. During the course, there are two circular detours that allows you to accede two volcanic cones, as it can be observed in the map. The trail starts by a tarmac road that turns in to a dirt way that goes up slowly until Cabeço Verde (volcanic cone with a cauldron in the interior). In the first bifurcation, one should proceed to the right until the top of the volcano and later surround the cauldron. When you go back to the base of Cabeço Verde turn to the right, continuing for Caldeirão. Soon after there’s an entrance where you can give a look to Furna Ruim. In this place one should be careful when getting close to the berm. The main track proceeds contouring the Caldeirão by the left. On the next crossing, if you go straight you can go up until Cabeço do Canto, where an excellent viewpoint on the Volcano of Capelinhos can be enjoyed. Then, go back to the trail and go to the right until the Museum. The trail crosses three Reserve Areas: a Special Protection Zone, a Site of Community Importance and a Natural Reserve. . For that, it’s our responsibility to contribute to it’s preservation as well as to ensure biodiversity by conserving this natural habitat.
