A Short Multi-Cache set around the parish Church of St Laurence in the village of Seale. The Co-ordinates above are for the Lychgate where there is space to Park a couple of cars.
Seale is a village in Surrey and part of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and it lies on the Pilgrims' Way – a long distance route from Winchester to Canterbury.
The parish church of St Laurence was established in the 12th Century by Waverley Abbey. The church was extensively restored and enlarged in about 1860. It is served by a Rector, who now also has care of the adjacent parishes of Puttenham and Wanborough with which the parish of Seale was formally merged in 2004, The peal of six bells is both the oldest and the largest forged during the 16th Century.
Now to the cache :
There is a date on the Lychgate, this is ABCD (although it looks much older than that).
On the south side of the path to the Church there are a number of large Tombs, some surrounded by railings.
Find the Chester family tomb, it’s the one with a number of Coats of Arms on shields on the side of the tomb : E is the number of Griffons. F is the number of Stags Heads.
Find the brick tomb of Thomas Parker, an early Grand Master of the Mason’s. In which year did he die? this is GHJK.
L is the number of clock dials on the Church Tower.
Now go to the War Memorial at the co-ords below. There is a good view of the Church from here. The War Memorial was unveiled by Lady Buckingham of Seale on Rememberance Sunday MNPQ.
