Caching Practice 4 (Covers) Traditional Geocache
northking: After visiting the canal today I have had to archive two caches, both areas are suffering from evidence of human faeces and drug use. Best to archive and will be reporting to the authorities.

This is one of a series of caches placed alongside the Grantham Canal between West Bridgford and Gamston as part of the ‘Caching Practice' series.
All of the caches are intended to be done on a gentle linear walk of about 1.5 miles, it is hoped that they prove to be a bit of a challenge but also to bring a smile to the cachers face and a memory of a good caching day. There are opportunities to drive/use public transport and the final cache is close to Morrisons Supermarket in Gamston where shopper buses run back into town.
Each cache will have a cricketing theme and in one of the caches there will be a wooden stick which has the numbers to to find the location of the bonus cache.
No container size is given, (there will be a mixture of nano – small).
If you have not been to this area before, then here is some background info –
West Bridgford is the home of Trent Bridge Cricket Ground and the Nottingham Forest Football Ground, it has a great shopping area and a good park and childrens’ play area. There are some nice bars and restaurants and a number of quality pubs, with The Test Match being my personal favourite.
The area is well served by public transport from the outlying villages and towns and regular services from Nottingham City, there are bus stops outside the Railway Station and a number of buses will bring you into West Bridgford Town Centre.
Gamston is an area in it’s own right and this walk goes through the heart of the new estate towards the Gamston Lings Bar road. If you have time you may want to continue on the walk along the canal and pick off the ‘Naiads’ caches placed by Jacaru (there is a circular walk to be had here that allows for a number of caches to be grabbed ). The road noise soon fades and is replaced by light aircraft noise from the nearby Tollerton airfield.
CAUTION
There are main roads to cross between West Bridgford and Gamston and between Gamston and Bassingfield if you choose to do the circular walk. There are a number of Swans on the first stretch, these can be a little intimidating when standing on the footpath! Stealth and/or ingenuity will be required at some caches due to the nearby houses and gardens.
More importantly – enjoy the walk and my attempt at trying to place some different caches.
