Geocache Description:

Originally placed by Celt in WV and DH, the view from this cache is best seen when the leaves are off the trees. But beautiful views can be had from up here year round. On a clear day you can see Pennsylvania and Maryland to the North and Northeast, Virginia to the South and West Virginia is all around you. The big valley to the Southeast is the Shenandoah Valley and the city of Martinsburg. The one to the Northwest is the Back Creek Valley. If you progress down the road to N39 30.771/W78 02.146, you will arrive at a historic bridge built in 1892 out of railroad rails. There is a plaque half way across the bridge. Because of the railroads, Martinsburg was an important supply city during the Civil War and there are many sites in the area for a CW buff to visit.

03/09/05 - The cache is now a medium sized ammo can clearly marked with the geocaching logo. A new log book has been added, a few of the previous trade items have been retained (if they were salvagable) and a few new ones added. The walk is short and easy but watch children on the road.

We are now travel bug friendly! Plenty of room for any normal sized TB and the container is dry! And located only a few minutes West of I-81 Exit 14 in WV on Dry Run Road. Perfect for a quick pickup or dropoff while traveling through WV's Eastern Panhandle.

05/02/2010 - There is no parking area at the lookout any more. It' been roped and guard railed off. We're not sure at the moment what to tell would be cache finders about parking. We'll try to make a recommendation soon, but for now we don't want to archive such an old cache.
