Mardi Gras Event
Details:
Meet up at
the posted coordinates along Beaver Creek Road at 5:00 pm for an
evening of fun in Geocaching Mardi Gras style. Bring chairs
and a beverage of your choice. All geocachers are encouraged
to attend this free dinner Mardi Gras event, regardless of
participation in the daytime 4x4 run. Make sure you put on
your Mardi Gras attire (family friendly) as there will be a contest
for best dressed.
Note: We will
try to get porta potties for the event site again this year.
This event is not officially a camping event but free camping is
available on a first come first served basis at the event location
and at several other spots along Beaver Creek Road.
If you plan
to go on the daytime 4x4 run, that's great, but if not, you should
still plan to spend the day in the mountains prior to the mardi
gras event. There will be plenty to do for the day,
including:
» |
Explore the area around Fairplay and
Breckenridge.
|
» |
Enjoy one of the many
activities available in the area. |
» |
Hang out at the event area (Chat with others who will be
there for the day, sit back and enjoy the mountain air, have a
picnic, read a book, play horseshoes, etc.).
|
» |
Make a caching run on your way to Fairplay (All of the
routes into Fairplay have countless fun mountain cache hides along
them).
|
» |
Spend the day geocaching around Fairplay and/or
Breckenridge.
|
» |
Plan your own adventure for the day.

4x4 Bear
Award - To be handed off
annually.
The bear was carved and graciously donated by jmike for the
2007 4x4 event raffle. Sting25 won it
at that event after having a little mishap on the trail during that
day. Sting25 agreed to give the bear up to the next
victim lucky person and the plan was hatched to
make the bear an annual award. Team
Abunai Inc. won the bear at the
2009 4x4 event. Who will win it this year and what
mishap accomplishment will it be awarded
for?
Best Mardi
Gras Attire Award - It's
a Mardi Gras, so of course we will have this award.
Prize: Mountainsmith Ryolite Trekking Poles.
