The Eastern Come in Sucker Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Yurt: After three years, 102 finds, 110 DNFs and 32 favourite points it's time to send the old 'sucker' to geocaching heaven. I dropped by today and the cache was pretty much where it's always been but it was obviously the worse for wear. I tried to fix it but it came apart in my hands.

Sorry to all those who never found it, nothing much I can do now. Thanks to everyone for their logs. I know this was a favourite cache for many. Thanks to iTreasureHunt in WA who created the original.

Another cache will hopefully appear in this area soon.

Geocache Description:

Quite the tricky nano/micro which was inspired by, and indeed is the same construction as, Come in Sucker ( GC22VR9 ). The hardest WA cache has been brought east to test NSW's cachers. Come and try to find it, if you dare!

Come in Sucker never started out aiming to be the most difficult cache in WA in terms of DNFs, it just turned out that way according to its owners, iTreasureHunt and iTreasureHunt2. When I was over in Perth I thought I'd check out what the fuss was all about. At that stage there'd been about 30 DNFs and only one find. Some very experienced cachers had been foiled several times. Knowing this I had little hope and indeed, recorded a DNF. However, on finding a couple of other iTreasureHunt caches, I got a better idea of what to look for and came back to make a quick find. iTreasureHunt contacted me to congratulate me and we met up.From there a sneaky plan was hatched. Currently Come In Sucker had 6 finds and 77 DNFs (probably more unlogged). The challenge is a combination of a sneaky hide and the perfect environment for the hide. I don't envisage this will be as difficult but I've given it a 3.5 rating so geocachers won't think it's a doddle.

It's a strip of land by the Comenarra Parkway but outside the National Park, despite what the signs say. There is a large man-made cliff nearby and Google Earth may have you believe the cache is at the top but if you check the Terrain rating you can see it is not so. The coordinates were recorded with 4m accuracy but the sandstone cliff may cause your GPSr some problems. If you are off the flat or climbing the cliff you're on the wrong track! Just keep looking! Good luck, if you find this easily then perhaps you can visit Perth to help find the successor to Come In Sucker! http://coord.info/GC2FP43

As a side note, geocaching history buffs may recall another cache in this area in the past: Wandering Willie (GC32C9) which was archived some years ago. On some days a man with a van may be parked in the logical parking spot. He's there selling mangoes in the summer and flowers at some other times. Otherwise you'll be largely muggle free apart from walkers using the track to link to the Great North Walk.

You can continue through on this track to find Thorn's Reward (GC1VPMR).

Additional note: please look after the environment - remember you are representing geocachers everywhere. Do not disturb the plants. There is NO NEED to look under the ferns.
