Geocache Description:

Utah Hiking Series #4 - Stewart Falls
8:30 am

Series Description
For those of you who may be new to this series (which is all of you at this point), this series is designed to get you out of the city and up in the hills. There are many great trails in Utah County and some fantastic caches along them that don't get visited nearly often enough.
All fitness levels are welcome. The intent of the hikes is to get outdoors, visit with other cachers, and hopefully find some caches. Don't worry if you're not in great shape, cachers of all fitness levels are welcome. The intent of the hike is to stick together in a group and get to the endpoint together.

The first few caches in the series will be shorter, easier, more well-known trails. This is to help me gauge the level of interest. If there is sufficient demand, future hikes will be a healthy mix of longer and shorter hikes.

Hike Description
Meet at the trailhead at 8:30 am, leave at 8:35 am.
This is a nice hike for all ages. We will be hiking to Stewart Falls. The trail is well maintained and is mostly flat. There are several caches to get along the way and many in the canyon on your way her or on the way back.

Details

Stewart Falls is a very scenic three-tiered waterfall that is over 200 feet tall located on the east side of Mt Timpanogos in the North Fork of Provo Canyon near the Sundance Ski Resort. “It amazing to have such a beautiful and scenic place that is so close and has such easy access," said one visitor. The Stewart Falls hike is great for younger kids because it is such an easy hike.

The hike to Stewart Falls has very little elevation change and travels through aspens, ferns, oak brush and mountain meadows, offering views of the back side of Mount Timpanogos and Sundance resort. When you go definitely take a pair of binoculars and a camera.

It is a fairly easy hike along a well-maintained trail, with signs marking critical junctions. Hiking time one-way is about 1 hour for most people. A fee of per vehicle is charged for day-use along the paved Alpine Scenic Loop Road.
