Geocache Description:

A multicache in a quiet cul-de-sac in Randburg

This cache highlights some of the excellent Scientific activity that takes place in South Africa.
Mintek is located in Randburg and is the hub of a number of scientific endeavours. With a proud history extending as far back as 1934, MINKTEK has become a leading provider of minerals processing and metallurgical engineering products and services.
Disciplines include mining research, analytical services, Biotechnology, engineering, hydrometallurgy, Mineralogy, Pyrometalurgy.
I first came into contact with Mintek through Minquiz which is an annual national science competition for grade 12 learners which has been running since 1988.
The process of obtaining permission to hide a cache on the premises was too lengthy so the cache is located outside of the Mintek perimeter. (information and picture from www.mintek.co.za)
The cache itself is a small screw top jar. There is space for tiny trade items but not for a pencil. Please bring your own. The co-ordinates are to WP1 which will contain the last 5 digits of the south and east co-ordinates.
