Nonie is our mom and grandmother. She has geocached with us a time or two. We told her there weren't any geocaches in her neighborhood and her eyes lit up so we had to come up with a geocache in her honor.
Originally, because of the location, we decided to pick something very small and hopefully inconspicuous that was not invasive of private property. But, Nonie, being Nonie, decided three years of a nano cache were enough and asked for something bigger. We obliged and made it a faux sewer. But then she decided she wanted a Little Free Library. So the cache has now migrated into a portion of the newsstand. It's still within a few feet of the sidewalk and easily accessible. Lots of things to trade and we hope to encourage some TB activity.
If you want to take a TB, be sure to leave one behind. Also, make sure you log it! As a TB owner, I've gotten discouraged by the lack of responsibility shown towards TBs.
Nonie will be keeping an eye on this cache for me between visits to her house. If you see an older lady watching you, just say hi, tell her you are a geocacher, and she will probably come and chat for a bit and probably offer you a chocolate chip cookie!
11/4/2018 Due to a recent theft of the geocache which included taking three TBs, there is now a preventative mechanism. It's a bit temperamental but hopefully it will deter further theft.
