Artikulárny kostol je sakrálna stavba postavená na základe artikúl (clánkov) prijatých v roku 1681 na šopronskom sneme, ktoré umožnili výstavbu protestantských cirkevných objektov v niektorých stoliciach a mestách Uhorska.
Artikula stanovovala pre výstavbu nového kostola nasledovné podmienky:
- musel byt postavený na okraji obce, mimo mestských hraníc
- musel byt postavený v priebehu jedného roka
- musel byt celý z dreva a postavený bez použitia kovových prvkov
- kamenný základ mohol mat nanajvýš jednu stopu od zeme
- nesmel mat vežu
- vchod nesmel byt priamo z ulice
Na miestach súcasného kostola v Istebnom stála pôvodne malá kaplnka, pochádzajúca z roku 1686. V roku 1730 bola kaplnka rozšírená a pod kostolom boli vybudované krypty.V tejto podobe, s pôdorysom gréckeho kríža, sa zachoval dodnes. V interiéri kostola sa nachádzajú vzácne malby, barokový oltár s obrazom sv.Trojice, kazatelnica vo florentínskom slohu so sochami evanjelistov a nemenej vzácny drevený kalich.
V r. 1985 sa robila rekonštrukcia strechy. Žial v r. 1990 boli vykradnuté vzácnosti interiéru - sošky a malby.
Kostol je plne funkcný a slúži farníkom.

 Articular Church is a sacred building which was constructed on the basis of articles issued in Sopron Concilium in 1681, which allowed the construction of Protestant church buildings in some cities in Hungary.
Articules prescribed the following conditions to build a new church :
- had to be built in the village periphery, outside the city borders
- had to be built within one year
- had to be built of wood without using metal components
- stone base may had at most one foot from the ground
- tower was not allowed
- entrance may not be from the street side
There was originally a small chapel on the current church site, bult in 1686. The chapel was enlarged in 1730 and there were built the crypts under the church. Church's ground-plan is Greek cross. There are rare paintings, baroque altar, the pulpit in the Florentine style with statues of evangelists and precious wooden kalich inside the church. The reconstruction of the roof was made in the year 1985. Unfortunately, in the year 1990 the interior rarities were stolen - paintings and statues.
The church is fully functional and serves parishioners.
