Geocache Description:

Monument to history.

Our cache is a multi-faceted cache. First, it is on the GPS border of Utah and Nevada. The road shows a different border but our GPS assured us we were on the correct border.

Secondly, we have been to Wendover many, many times and never knew this monument was there. So, placing a cache here seemed appropriate to bring others to the historic site.

Nope, it has nothing to do with Wendover's more famous history. Instead, ours is "On June 17, 1914, the first transcontinental telephone line was completed on the border of Nevada and Utah at Wendover. Construction forces of the Bell Telephone Company of Nevada and the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company met here, making the last splices in the wires which joined East and West in voice communications for the first time."

Lastly, be sure to check out the artificial turf these casinos are using to save water. We want the same green stuff for our yard! No water. No cutting. Just grab a leaf blower to clean your lawn. Now this sounds easy!

Congrats GroundTiger and CraftyPenguin on FTF. The difficulty has been upgraded to a 3 since so many DNFs.

7/18/2011: We replaced the cache container but we believe that hotel security or someone else associated with the hotels in the area are removing caches. Ours was the third cache within .25 mile that went missing. We will closely watching this and if that is the case, we will file criminal charges.
