Geocache Description:

This challenge will take between 1 and 3 hours to complete and guide you through 2 to 6 km of picturesque woodland correspondingly; these times and distances will vary depending upon your decisions, problem solving and good old caching skill. Younger children will struggle with the distance if your adventure becomes prolonged.

If you have mobility/accessibility constraints please contact TheHarvesters for further information and advice before setting out.

The Forest awaits you.
Calls to you.

Many have gone before, and yet few have returned.

Are you 'the one' who can overcome the peril within?

Pack your provisions, sheathe your sword and steady your nerve.
It's time to truly test yourself...

YOU will be the hero.

YOU must decide the path.

Note: A supernatural score of 565 had been recorded by the Necromancer (aka NuJerico), who had been found to achieve this by dint of his old pal Jacob von Hogflume's time travelling capabilities. TheHarvesters owe a great debt to this man for his diligence in testing the cartridge to it's limits, and then some. The mortal score of 441 has been re-instated, and current and future versions of the cartridge have been modified accordingly.

The above coordinates are not the location of the cache. You will be guided to it (or one of two others) dependant upon your success in the Forest of Peril. The three geocaches are Forest of Peril: Gold, Silver and Bronze.
To take part in this adventure you will need to download the following cartridge to your Wherigo enabled GPS device:

www.wherigo.com Forest of Peril Wherigo download page
Only download the cartridge once - this will enable you to play for Gold, Silver and Bronze - your actions will determine which cache you find.
If you have questions about how to play then visit wherigo.com and discover for yourself, or contact us (TheHarvesters) through our profile page for more information. We will be very willing to help you.

This cartridge has been completed successfully using all the following devices:
Garmin Colorado, Oregon units,
Smartphones:
PocketPC/Windows Mobile (Official Player),
Android (WhereYouGo),
Blackberry/J2ME (OpenWiG)
and iPhone (Bronze so far - thankyou and well done Andy+Loo - other parts of the cartridge will still require test using iPhone) (PiGo)

This adventure is set in Manor Farm parkland with kind permission, and guidance by the Park Ranger.

The land is a Special Site of Scientific Interest and so please stay to the paths, and practice Cache In Trash Out if you are able.

The narrative is inspired by the Fighting Fantasy adventure book series, but be assured there are no 'sudden death' scenarios where you finish with no reward.
You can always conclude your adventure by finding a cache and logging it...
...though you will see there are still many degrees of success!

Wherigo Cache

Good luck, brave adventurer...

Here are the top tips to ensure you have a fun experience:

1.SAVE YOUR GAME AS YOU GO! This is most important - it enables you to restart. If you download the game and fire up at home you will see a 'memory ball' that will make this easy for you - save as you move between zones.

2. If for some reason your device crashes, we thoroughly recommend actually taking the batteries out and replacing them before starting again and restoring your last saved game.

3. Take some spare batteries, in case they run down faster than you'd thought they would.

4. When navigating to a zone the arrow can be a good guide, but trust the numbers counting down. They are most accurate.

5. If you have trouble closing in on a zone, then try moving a few meters or feet away and then move quickly toward the zone. That should help to trigger it.

Thanks to all our Worthy Adventurers for helping us understand the oddities of the Wherigo player so that we could share the above list with you. These advices will be useful for any Wherigo game you play, not just Forest of Peril.

Thanks go to BAZ8755 for inspiration in the setting of the SPIDEY8857 wherigo.
Also to natterjacktoads for a splendid clue device.
Finally, we must give great thanks to sTeamTraen for his hard work in developing Earwigo as a fine tool for building Wherigo adventures such as this.
