This is our first puzzle cache so we hope you like it and learn something along the way. This cache is placed to commemorate a milestone in b's education, namely the acquisition of her doctorate.

There are over 1,600 public schools, serving about 1.1 million students, in New York City. While there is a lot of politics around how the NYC public schools are doing, I am living proof that the New York City public school system can work.
I learned a lot of things from my days in elementary school. I was educated about a man who was obsessed with peanuts and sweet potatoes, and about the first president to succeed to office after his predecessor died on the 32nd day of his tenure (the shortest in history). I learned that one of the mayors of NYC owned the building (and surrounding area) that currently houses the Museum of Bronx History. I was taught about the father of American public education, and about the first president to be assassinated. I learned about a man who is legendary for having said "God save us all," instead of "God save the king," and about a president who was born in a sinking spring. I was informed about the woman who organized the American Red Cross, and about a Flushing Quaker who was a pioneer for religious liberty. I learned a lot more too, but it's time to go get that cache.
While the cache container is not kid-friendly, the final location of the cache is. The cache is not available in the month of December.
We would like to emphasize that there is no need for your feet to leave the pavement to get this cache. In addition, there is no need to disturb any plantings, damage fences, or otherwise be less than wholly virtuous in your explorations.
