Cette cache, située à 630m d'altitude, peut faire l'objet d'une jolie promenade sur les hauteurs de Gourdan-Polignan. Il faudra prévoir une petite heure pour arriver au sommet et avoir la satisfaction d'une vue ... à perte de vue sur les villes et villages avoisinants, ainsi que sur les Pyrénées.

La cache avait disparu et avec Baraca31, nous la remplaçons par une micro, que nous plaçons au même endroit : la végétation a beaucoup poussé depuis 2010 et la boîte sera peut être plus à l'abri. Nous créons deux nouvelles caches sur le chemin pour encourager les marcheurs.

Pour accéder à la cache, garez vous au waypoint indiqué, avant d'arriver à la carrière et suivez le chemin qui monte, face à vous et le long de la carrière.
Au bout d'un quart d'heure environ de marche effective, vous trouverez un cairn : tournez à droite. (voir photo). Une petite dizaine de minutes de marche de plus, et vous y serez !
Jean Cistac, homme de lettres, résida longtemps à Paris en tant que secrétaire particulier de Jules Grévy. Puis, étant natif de la région, il se retira à Montréjeau. Il encouragea la société Ramond, société savante du pyrénéisme, et la subventionna dans l'aménagement de l'observatoire du Pic du Midi. En contrepartie, le bulletin météorologique lui était transmis quotidiennement et il l'affichait devant sa maison afin que chacun puisse le consulter.
Vers 1880, il fit construire cette croix sur le Picon, dont le sommet atteint 630m d'altitude.
Jusqu'à la Première Guerre mondiale, une procession mi-religieuse mi-récréative y était organisée le premier dimanche du mois de Mai. Les pèlerins y déjeunaient et redescendaient le soir à la lueur des torches.
Nous avons bien caché le "trésor" afin que les jeunes et malins moldus qui montent jusqu'à la croix ne puissent pas la trouver par hasard.
Prenez bien tous les indices et spoilers avant de partir, car la montée est longue et notre plus cher souhait est que personne ne redescende bredouille !

This cache, located at 630m above sea level, may be a nice walk on the heights of Gourdan-Polignan. It will take you an hour to reach the summit and have the satisfaction of a magnifiscent panoramic view over the surrounding towns and villages, and the Pyrenees.

To get to the cache, park at the indicated waypoint, before arriving at the quarry and follow the path up, facing you and along the quarry.
After about fifteen minutes' walk, you will find a cairn: turn right. (See photo). A short ten minutes' walk more, and you'll be there!
Jean Cistac, a writer, lived in Paris for a long time as secretary to Jules Grevy. Then, being a native of the region, he retired to Montréjeau. He encouraged the Ramond Company, a Learned Company of Mountaineering, and subsidized it in the development of the Pic du Midi. In return, the weather report was forwarded to him daily and he showed it outside his house so that everyone could see it.
Around 1880, the cross on the Picon was built thanks to him. Its summit reaches an altitude of 630m.
Until the First World War, a half religious-half recreational procession was held there on the first Sunday in May.The pilgrims had lunch and went down again in the evening by torchlight.
We hid the "treasure" well, so that young and smart muggles walking up to the cross can not find it by chance.
