Der Giesenheld Vulkan ist Teil einer Vulkankette, die sich von der Giesenheld über den Mäuseberg zum Rockeskyller Kopf hinzieht.Alle diese Vulkane sind Schichtvukane oder Stratovulkane, das heißt, Tuffe und Basaltlava haben abwechselnd den Vulkankegel aufgeschichtet.
Zu Beginn der Vulkantätigkeit kam es zum Auswurf von feinkörnigen Aschen sowie Lapilli.Die Aschen wurden im Verlauf des Ausbruchs immer grobkörniger.Sie enthalten unter anderem auch Bruchstücke der Gesteinsschichten des Untergrunds, die aus dem Bereich des Aufstiegweges vom Magma mitgerissen wurden und so beim Vulkanausbruch mit an die Oberfläche gelangen konnten.
Nach der ersten Ausbruchsphase muß das Magma relativ schnell im Vulkanschlot aufgestiegen sein, denn außer Lapilli mit Glimmerkristallen finden sich nun verstärkt Wurfschlacken, also Lavafetzen, die aus dem Krater herausgeschleudert wurden und beim Aufschlagen auf dem Boden miteinander verschweißten.Aus dem Schlot selbst, aus Nebenkratern und aus tiefen Spalten am Fuße des Vulkans brachen schließlich mächtige Basaltlavaströme hervor.
Hier in der Steiwand sind deutlich die Tuffablagerungen zweier dieser Ausbruchsphasen zu unterscheiden.Hangaufwärts ist erstarrte Basaltlava in schöner Säulenform zu sehen.
Um den Earthcache zu loggen erfülle folgende Bedingungen.
1. Was zeigt Abb. 1 der Infotafel.
2. Wie wird Lapilli mit Glimmerkristallen genannt (Abb.6 der Tafel)
Desweiteren würde ich mich über ein Foto von einer interessanten Stelle vor Ort freuen.Dieses Foto ist keine Logbedingung sondern absolut freiwillig.
3. Mache ein Bild von einer interessanten Stelle und poste es im Log? Keine Logbedingung
Bemerkung: Es ist nicht erforderlich, daß du oder dein GPS auf den Bildern zu sehen sind, es ist aber auch nicht verboten wenn doch.

The Giesenheld volcano is part of a volcanic chain that goes from the Giesenheld over the "Mäuseberg" to the "Rockeskyller Kopf".All these volcanoes are called strato-volcanoes,that means, tuff and basalt lava built these volcanoes in alternating layers.
At the beginning of the volcanic activity there was an eruption of fine-grained ashes and lapilli.These ashes as been more coarse grained.
They contain fractions of the rock layers of the ground, which has been carried by the magma in the rising zone and came hereby to the surface.
After the first eruption phase the magma has been rosen very quickly in the volcano vent, because lapilli and crystals of glimmer are now found more in the cinder, also lava, which has been erupted out of the crater and has been fused at the moment of impact at the ground.
Out of the vent, out of the craters and out of deep crevices at the bottom of the volcano great basalt lava streams came to the surface.
Here at the steep face you can see the tuff deposits of two eruptions.Upside the hill you see basalt lava in beautyful columns.
To log the Earthcache you must perform these conditions.
1. What shows Abb. 1 of the Infoboard?
2. How is the lapilli with the crystals of glimmer called (Abb.6 of the Infoboard)?
In addition it would be nice to see a picture you took from an interesting place at the location.The foto is no logcondition but absolutly optional.
3. Take a picture of an interesting place here and post it in your log?
Remark: It is not necessary that you or your GPS is shown on the Photo, but it`s not forbidden to do so.
