10 Years! Dunedin, New Zealand Community Celebration Event

This cache has been archived.

GSVNoFixedAbode: Time to put this one to bed now. Belated thanks to kevsteam and geocachers.co.nz for discount coupons and some giveaways that arrived later (courier foulup sadly). I'll be spreading those around local caches over the next few weeks.

Thanks to all those who attended for making this event a great 10 Year! celebration of GPS and caching.

Cheers,
G.

Geocache Description:

Happy 10th Geocachers!

3pm at the Sexton's Cottage.

An informal gathering for everyone to come along swap stories, trade travel bugs, put faces to caching names, and catch up with old friends and new.

This is Dunedin's 10th anniversary gathering, and will be held in the Sexton's Cottage at the gates of the Dunedin North Cemetery.

Why there? Well, it's the closest available facility to one of Dunedin's cluster of venerable caches, GCB2. For those of you who haven't found that one there will be plenty of time before or after the event!

This is primarily a catchup and chat, with a few spot or achievement prizes tossed in for good measure every so often, but no seriously organised activities at this stage.

Tea & Coffee will be provided, and feel free to bring a plate, but there is no obligation to.

And a salute to:

GCAF Mt Cargill (11 Nov 2000)

GCB0 Flagstaff (11 Nov 2000)

GCB1 Unity Park (12 Nov 2000)

GCB2 Botanical Gardens (12 Nov 2000)

Oh, and yes technically this is 10 years since Selective Availability being turned off rather than the first cache placement: The Original Stash (03 May 2000)

Remember: to make this a special '10 Year' event, we need to meet the following:
  • At least 10 people must attend the event.
  • A video or picture must be taken at the event. At least 10 attendees must be in the video/photo along with a legible sign showing the event coordinates and location name.
  • The people in the video or photo should be festive. (Think Party or Silly Hats!) Be inventive! But please keep it family friendly.
