Platan javorolisty je opadavy, až 40 m vysoky strom,
dožívá se nekolika set let. U nás se pestuje od r. 1835.
Nápadny je svou supinovitou nebo planovite opadavou ruznobarevnou
borkou. Puvod tohoto druhu není zcela jasný, jedna z teorií zastává
názor, ze se muze jednat o potomka již vyhynulého druhu
platanu z tretihor. Tento druh platanu je mimorádne odolný proti
suchému a znecištenému ovzduší a lze se s ním setkat
rovnež v mestské výsadbe, kde je schopen prežívat v
zadláždených a asfaltových plochách chodníku.

high, it could live several hundred years. Around our area it is
cultivated since the year 1835. It is distinguished by a deciduous
ross. It could be a descendant of a plane tree from Tertiary
according to one theory. This sort of plane tree is resistant to a
dry and polluted environment.
