Sometimes we talk to trees. We always figured we could count on them to not talk back. Wrong again!
Yesterday we were out exploring South Bradford State Forest and we heard an unusual sound, a very low pitched:
HI
What's that? After a pause, we heard more:
MO(hic)IL
Hic? It's been drinking? What's making those sounds? Could it be the wind blowing through that huge old pine log? As we walked toward the log, we heard more:
OHOH
followed by
PA(hic)PAPANY
We heard it again, more urgently:
HI MO(hic)IL
OHOH PA(hic)PAPANY
Oh well, of course! The log was giving us his coordinates. He's been lonely and wants us to hide a cache somewhere in his huge body so that people would come visit him. So we did. When you've translated his language, please visit him and tell him HI.
