The original incarnation of this cache, Massacre in Austin
(GCQMRD), was the second cache that FiedoGang ever found (in
December 2006). The location is within Fiedo's Neighborhood in a
lovely spot along Shoal Creek. We were inspired to reactivate this
in response to a thread on the CenTex Geocachers listserv asking
about caches near waterfalls, regardless of how small.
The following paragraph is adapted from the description of the
original cache, which has been DNF since October 2008 and was
archived in April 2009.
This area is wheelchair accessible until the last 20 feet or so,
where someone in a chair would need help. This is a great park you
and your family will enjoy. Somewhat secluded but lots of muggles
after work and in the mornings jogging and biking, so be careful
when logging the cache. While you are there you may find some
tranquility. Be sure to read the interesting -- if not extremely
significant -- history of the area on the plaque across the creek
(there are also a pair of signs just north of GZ).
Please be sure to re-seal and hide carefully. There are lot's of
hikers and bikers on the trails.
Thanks and enjoy!
