Geocache Description:

This cache is in Shenandoah River State Park (don’t confuse with Shenandoah National Park.) Park at the Horse Trailer Parking lot (N38º 50.870 W078º 18.370) and start your journey on the Bear Bottom Loop Trail. This Trail along with three adjoining trails were newly constructed and opened between the spring and fall of 2009. The final destination of this cache is over 3 miles one way, so bring plenty of water and enjoy the new scenery/wildlife as you hunt for this cache.

First two stages will give the information you need to find the final. Final is a Lock & Lock 2qt. Clear plastic container that has a log book and park specific item in it. Be sure to pick up this park’s Wildlife Adventure Card.

This cache was part of the 2010 Virginia State Parks Geocaching Wildlife Adventure. This series ended on December 15, 2010. However, a volunteer has taken over this cache so it is still active. Rewards are no longer available for this cache, but we will be launching the Virginia State Parks 75th Anniversary Geocaching Adventure in March 2011. For upcoming information on the new series go to: www.virginiaoutdoors.com.

Proximity issues with stages of this cache, if any, have been granted an exception to the guidelines by geocaching.com and are placed with permission and under the oversight of the state park system.
