I have been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting. I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Geocache Description:

A geocoin bank in Ivoryton. Pretty easy one may have to watch out for muggles during baseball season and afterschool. Try to make some deposits to this one not just withdrawls. Nice 4GB flash drive for FTF , some kids swag, a few coins, and a few TB's. I hope you all have fun bagging this one. Keep your eye out there is a family of beavers that have taken up residence.

Ivoryton is a small village in the town of Essex in Connecticut. It takes its name from the ivory industry that imported elephant tusks. In the beginning combs, buttons, toothpicks, billiard balls, and other items were made in Ivoryton. Later they moved toward piano keys and eventually also made piano movements. There is not a single town, city, or place named Ivoryton anywhere else in the world.

At its height, 90% of the ivory in the United States went through Ivoryton. The Comstock and Cheney Company essentially ran the area, building two factories, a store, recreation hall, sports field Comstock Park, and housing complex in the area. My family has lived here for six generations. My Grandmother as a girl used to flirt with the movie stars that came to the Ivoryton Playhouse which is still in operation. There is also a french gourmet restaurant, The Copper Beech Inn, that was five star rated when i washed dishes there and is still one of the best places to eat in Connecticut. The piano factory is not in operation anymore but it is still standing, i used to string pianos here was I was 18.

The cache is placed in Comstock Park. This is a park that brings back alot of memories. I first learned to ride a bike here. Threw my first baseball game here. Used to catch fish here and even went swimming in the little pond. It all seemed a bit bigger when I was small. It a great place to run with the kids or take the dog for a walk. We were looking for a place close to home to drop off some coins and TB's thought it would be great to have our own cache. Thanks for stopping by.
