Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed at arguably one of the most beautiful places in Wales. Quite a way from here, we keep our boat here and visit often. The cache has been placed with the kind permission of joint partner Mr George Workman.

Shell Island started off as a farm dating back to the Doomsday book of 1086. The Island developed as a tourist attraction in the 1880’s with the coming of the railways.

In 1958 it was bought by the Workman family who still run it today. With its unique location on the North Cardigan bay, in the Snowdonia National Park, it attracts families from all over the UK and Europe for camping holidays and day visits.

With over 450 acres, of which 300 acres are available for camping, Shell Island has developed into one of the largest camping sites in Europe. Shell Island appeals strongly to those who love un-spoilt countryside, and those who appreciate quietness. So whether you come for the day, or a weeks holiday, Shell Island offers everybody their own piece of paradise.

Shell Island is accessed via a causeway which is covered at certain high tides - make sure you check the tide tables at (visit link)

You dont have to enter the island to find the cache, you can park in the visitors car park but why not take the opportunity to explore the island with its beautiful views, beaches, harbour & fishing etc.
