Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Capitol Area Council, Blackland Prairie District

This cache has been placed as part of the Boy Scouts of America “Get in the Game” activities. Caching to Eagle is just one of the Geocaching activities that BSA has developed to help celebrate its 100th Anniversary.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete an extensive service project that he plans, organizes, leads, and manages. On average, each Scout conducts 167 service hours as part of that project.

Caching to Eagle is designed to showcase these Eagle Scout service project sites.

For his Eagle Project, a Scout from Troop 457 decided to make improvements along the Settler’s Valley Hike and Bike trails. With his first improvement, he painted and added reflectors to 10 cement bollards located at the trail entrances. The bollards had become shabby and chipped and were in need of some TLC. A second improvement added 10 pet waste stations along the trail.
