Geocache Description:

Hopwas Woods is between Lichfield and Tamworth off the A51. This is a series of 4 micro caches dotted around the area. All containers are the same and only contain a log. You will need your own writing implement. The terrain is mixed, and some scrambing or reaching may be required.

The first (if you choose this as a starting point) is on a bridle path which can be accessed from Whittinton or the woods if not starting here. The Bridal path goes through the shooting range which isn't used at the time of writing, so isn't as scary as it used to be :-) Whittington Barracks used to be a training facility, but is now being made into a military hospital facility. If you hear shooting... it is more likely to be from the nearby gun club or farmers. Neither should get you here!

Warning: Although it is not currently, it is worth noting the following warning...

"Please Note: This is a Military Training Area on which live firing and other pyrotechnics may be used. The area is generally open public access. One of the safety rules for public access is:- Do not, (and ensure that children do not) approach, touch or pick up any metal objects lying on the ground. Please obey all byelaws and locally posted information concerning times when the area may be closed. These may be physical barriers, flags or lights."
