You've Got Mail Letterbox Hybrid
Mr.Charlie: Time to let it go. This cache has had a good run. Thanks to everyone who found it and also to those who voted it as a Cache of the Month. The location has been compromised so I'm not going to recreate the hand carved stamp simply to have it taken again.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates but
you do need to start there. Follow the directions below to find the
cache.
I was sitting in my car when I saw the mailman come by on his
morning route. I wasn’t paying much attention until I heard
the barking. I looked up in time to see a neighborhood dog run down
the street towards the mailman. The mailman panicked and ran into
the woods. I jumped out of my car to try to help him but he was
gone. I have never seen snail mail move so fast. I did my best to
follow him and this is where I think he went.
He started at the posted coordinates then ran across the street for
164’ at a bearing of 157° until he reached a wood chip
trail heading into the woods. He ran along the wooden fence and up
the hill into the woods. The trail curved to the right and came to
a fork. He took the path to the left and ran up the hill to another
fork. At this fork he turned left again. He kept going until he
reached a wooden fence at the top of the hill. He ran to the far
end of the fence where he stopped to catch his breath. He knew he
couldn’t outrun the dog if he still had his mailbag but he
needed a safe place to leave it until he could return. Looking to
his left across the trail at a bearing of 42° he saw a small
footpath heading down the hill. He ran 21 paces down the path, and
paused again at a small deer trail to his right. Peering into the
woods he saw a stump next to a fallen tree. He walked seven paces
into the woods until he reached the stump. Then he followed the
trunk of the fallen tree until it intersected another fallen tree
at a right angle. He hid his mailbag underneath the intersection of
the two downed trees. After that I lost sight of him.
If you wish you may look for the missing mailbag. It is a small
container and there is only room for the logbook, stamp and inkpad
and not much space left for trade items. Please do not trade for
the stamp, but you may take an imprint of it with the enclosed
inkpad. You can search in snow or rain or heat, but it might be
best if you don’t search in the gloom of night. And watch out
for dogs.
