Geocache Description:

This cache is located in a very neat area of the Moccasin Island Tract/River Lakes Conservation Area. You will find remnants of an old homestead if you wish to explore the area around the cache site. There is a man-made canal and land dike nearby on the river. I have hiked this area a number of times, being careful not to disturb anything left from history. After finding the cache you could continue on the trail over to the SJRWMD Oak Tree Shelter for a break (you may or may not have it to yourself). I certainly hope that you spend a little time enjoying the area. I placed it in a spot that should be hunter free, but as always near the St Johns River, stay alert! As with all sections of the River Lakes Conservation area, you most likely will see a lot of cattle and a variety of wildlife.

The container is a camo'd lock&lock box which just contains a log (BYOP - any swag will just rot out there). Again, how you get to the cache is entirely up to you. Note: no bikes for me, all walking!

The parking area is at the very end of Wickham Road, you have to follow the dirt road to the right at the end of Wickham Road asphalt. - parking coords = N28 13.823 W80 48.667

I have picked some trash while exploring the area, please consider being a CITO cacher. Be a good cacher, leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but photos!

In the St Johns River area hunting is allowed at different times of the year. You can check my hunting calendar at "www.tinyurl.com/techunts" or click here to see it now. If in the area during hunting season, wear your orange or bright colors.
