London's Vertical Limit Extreme Event: Tower 42 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: Thanks again to everyone who came along to make this a special night. Archiving this event now. Please remember to move any TBs and coins along [:)]
After the success of this one, I hope to do something similiar in future; perhaps next year. Leave this event on your watchlist if you'd like advance warning on it, as I'll add a note if plans come together. Cheers!

Geocache Description:

An exclusive event for high flyers!

Tower 42 at night, taken by yours truly.

When: Thursday April the 1st from 7pm to 9pm (maximum reservations are for 2 hours) No joke!

Where: Vertigo 42 Champagne Bar, Tower 42 (formerly the Nat West Tower), 25 Broad Street, London, EC2N 1HQ. I've booked a window area but this gives us only 4 bar stools. First come first seated- other attendees will have to stand & mingle.

What: A sophisticated gecaching gathering for a better class of geocacher. If you plan to eat here, bring the more resilient of your credit cards. There will be polite caching chit-chat and swapping of TBs, geocoins and other traveller items while admiring the views from the highest publicly accessible point in London.

Please Note: The venue operates a minimum spend of £10 per person for bookings up to 14. Above this, it rises to an unacceptably -in my view- high £20 per head. If this is an issue don't worry- you can still attend this event and get your smiley by being outside the front entrance to Tower 42 between 6.30pm and 6.45pm on April the 1st for a 'flash-mob' element.

Dress Code: Smart - Casual. No shorts.

Important update 22/03/10: If anyone else would like to attend I suggest you make a reservation big enough to put you in the same area as the two other groups and invite other cachers to join your booking, in much the same way as TurnerTribe kindly did. I suspect the venue's pretty full by this stage though, so don't hang about! As a reminder, if the venue does fill up and won't accept any more bookings it may still be possible to attend if someone else drops out so be sure to log your interest with a note to start/join a 'waiting list'. Failing that, a flash-mob element between 6.30pm and 6.45pm on the 1st of April outside the main entrance to Tower 42 will ensure this event remains 'open to all cachers'. Any questions? Please drop me an email via my profile.

Why: Because it's an amazing location for any get-together, and I love how caching is an excuse to do some random stuff. Take my GC1WD50 - Britain's Fourth Most Remote Event Cache (Jersey), GC22370 - In The Unlikely Event... (Les Minquiers), GC226KJ - The Hunting of the Sark! , GC229XC - Herm is where the heart is!, GC229YY - Guernsey Gathering and GC229YB - All the way to Alderney events for example; all coming in June...

Who: Cachers! But no dogs (except assistance dogs) or under 18s I'm afraid.

How: Nearest tube stations are Liverpool Street, Bank and Moorgate, in that order. Then there are stairs (42nd floor remember) or a couple of lifts- which you may recognise from Top Gear's 'Truffle Race' from Italy, screened on the BBC (and Dave) last year.

Note: You may regard this as a 3/5 if using the stairs ;) (Difficulty level upped from 2 to 3 on March 10th to reflect my personal experience of setting this event up! Oh, and for the fact you're expected not to arrive in flip-flops with yesterday's dinner down the front of you. See, I have met cachers in the wild before, lol!)
