Geocache Description:

Bridges, Ghosts, and Geocaches? What more can you ask?

UPDATE: Sadly, Ghost Bridge is no more. The county found it to be too much of a liability. Despite a movement to save this 100 year old bridge, the county decided to demolish it anyway. Goodbye Ghost Bridge. You will be missed.

Take your choice of ghost stories:
1. A runaway slave was hung from the bridge during the civil war. There have been many sightings there.
2. During the civil war there was a battle fought there and the union army was trying to take over the Forks of Cypress, the home of James Jackson cousin of Andrew Jackson. The confederate army won the battle and saved the home, however many soldiers died and for a that night during a rainstorm some of the soldiers took lanterns ad went up and down the banks of cypress creek looking for wounded and dead soldiers. On rainy nights people have said that they have seen lights moving up and down the banks and that it is soldiers looking for their friends and brothers.
Directions:
Take Cox Creek Parkway west from Florence. Take a right onto "New Savannah Highway"/Highway 20. Go about half a mile and take a right onto the "Old Savannah Highway"/County Road 200. You'll go about a mile and take a sharp right by an old repair building at County Road 282. CR 282 dead ends at the bridge. There is a place where you can turn your car around so you can just park and get out.
