Zkratkou za Strážcem
Nekterí z vás urcite znají skalní útvar Strážce, ale jiste je i mnoho tech, kterí o nem jen slyšeli a nevedí kde ho hledat - není totiž nikde v mapách vyznacen, ani k nemu nevede žádná turistická cesta. Pokud jste o Strážci ješte neslyšeli, vezte, že se jedná o jeden z nejhezcích kamenných výjevu ve Slavkovském lese. Asi ctyrmetrový skalní ostroh, vysoko ve svahu nad rekou Ohrí, vytvárí zcela zretelnou hlavu aztéckého bojovníka, nebo boha dávných jihoamerických kultur. Vaše putování za tímto sugestivním dílem prírody muže zacít.
1. zastávka - Královská stezka
Stojíte na zacátku bývalé Královské stezky, kterou hrave prekonáte nevysoké sedlo, tím si zkrátíte cestu na Svatošské skály o více jak jeden kilometr a alespon na chvíli zmizíte z ruchu nekdy dost zalidnené cyklostezky. V dnešní dobe zrychlování a zkracování všeho možného je s podivem, že o stezce málo kdo ví a nevyužívá se, prestože v historických mapách je uvedena jako hlavní turistická cesta z Lokte do K.Varu. Na výchozích souradnicích, které jsou jen orientacní, je smrk s trema (nyní možná už jen dvěma) turistickýma znackama, zde zacíná šikmo do svahu stoupat Královská stezka. Vydejte se po ní vzhuru a asi po 50 m hledejte skalku oznacenou modrobílým turistickým ctvereckem, metr od neho najdete indicii A.
2. zastávka - Purkrabí
Od indicie A pokracujte stále vzhuru po cesticce až do sedla Kovárky. Tady narazíte na velkou lesní cestu, kde asi nebudete vedet kudy dál, protože stezka je v tomto krátkém úseku zarostlá travou. Na lesní ceste se tedy zastavte a v logickém smeru stezky uvidíte na nedalekém smrku bílý bod, od kterého je dál stezka pekne citelná. Zanedlouho zacnete ztrácet výšku a až v jedné ze serpentin narazíte na plochý kámen, opet se znackou modrobílého turistického ctverecku, jste pul metru od indicie B. Zvednete-li hlavu, uvidíte ve skále nad Vámi profil Purkrabího s velkým nosem.
3. zastávka - Talofa
Úspešne jste prošli Královskou stezku a stojíte opet na cyklostezce, ale neradujte se, dlouho si jí neužijete. Podívejte se vzhuru do svahu, ve vzdálenosti približne 15 metru od cesty jsou velké kameny, dojdete k nim a na jednom svislém, plochém a asi 4 metry vysokém kamenu hledejte tajemný nápis Talofa. Slovo Talofa je svým významem pozdrav, ve smyslu našeho vítejte nebo dobré ráno. Co je ovšem zajímavé, tento pozdrav se používá na ostrove Samoa v Tichomorí. Kdo ho zde asi napsal a proc? Má neco spolecného se Strážcem? O tom mužete premýšlet, co je ale skoro jisté, približne 0,5 m od nápisu najdete indicii C.
4. zastávka - Patník
Vratte se zpet na cyklostezku a po proudu reky pokracujte približne 300 metru až narazíte na trigonometrický bod/patník zarostlý mezi dvema stromy - nachází se nalevo, asi 5 m od cesty. Nedaleko od neho, smerem do svahu, roste javor se tremi kmeny, v jeho korenech najdete vzorec a vše potrebné.
Máte? Ted už Vám zbývá jen najít Strážce a krabicku, at se darí!!!
Po odlovení kešky si na Královské stezce/zkratce mužete vyzkoušet i oblíbený vtípek. Sednete si dole u cesty a necím na sebe upoutejte pozornost, treba oblecením skafandru. Pockejte na ne príliš rychlého kolare, jedoucího cyklostezkou podél reky, pekne se mu predvedte, kynte mu, prejte mu štastnou cestu - zkrátka aby si Vás všiml, a po jeho prujezdu vyrazte zkratkou pres sedlo na druhou stranu. Dole u reky si opet sednete a vyckejte až nechápající cyklista dorazí................. :)
Puvodne se melo jednat o multicache. Když jsem se ale v hlubokém údolí Ohre nedostal s GPS, ani na tretí pokus, na presnost zamerení pod 25 metru, rozhodl jsem se pro Letterbox Hybrib variantu -tedy kombinaci obou her GEOCACHING (nalezeni na zaklade GPS souradnic) a LETTERBOXING (hledani jen pomoci indicii - www.letterboxing.org). GPS budete potrebovat pouze k nalezení výchozího bodu, možná ani to ne, a pak ji klidne hodte do reky. V kešce najdete razitko, které si hledaci letterboxu otiskují do svých notýsku - TO PROSIM NEODNASEJTE!!!
Doufám, že i bez navigace si kešku užijete.

A shortcut to the Guard
Some of you surely know the rock formation called the Guard, but there are a lot of those who have heard about it and who do not know where to find it – it is not marked on any maps and no tourist trail leads to it. If you have not heard about the Guard yet, let me tell you that it is one of the most beautiful rock formations in the Slavkovsky les. A four-meter high promontory high in the slope above the Ohre river, forms a distinct head of an Aztec warrior or a god of the ancient South American cultures. Your journey to this suggestive work of nature can begin.
1st stage - Kralovska stezka (King’s trail)
You are standing at the beginning of the former King’s trail which takes you trough a low gap, thus shortening the journey to Svatosske skaly (Svatosske rocks) by more than one kilometre and allowing you to escape from the hustle and bustle of the bike trail which is sometimes quite crowded. It is strange that in the age of quickening and shortening of nearly everything only a few people know about this trail and it is not used, even though historical maps mark it as the main trail from Loket to Karlovy Vary. There is a large spruce with three tourist marks at the starting coordinates which are used for your orientation only. The King’s trail begins winding up the slope here. Go up the slope and approximately after 50 m you should see a small rock marked with a white and blue tourist rectangle. The first indication – A – is located one metre from the rock.
2nd stage – Purkrabi (Burgrave)
From indicia A continue up the slope along the trail until you come to the Kovarka gap. Here you will come to a wide forest road and you will probably not know where to go, because the trail is overgrown with grass in this short stretch. You should therefore stop at the forest road and look in the direction where the trail should continue logically. You will see a white point on a nearby spruce and if you go to that spruce, you will find the trail again. The trail soon begins descending and when you come to a flat stone with a white and blue tourist mark in one of the serpentines, you are half a metre from the B indication. If you raise your head, you can see a profile of the Burgrave with a large nose in the rock above you.
3rd stage - Talofa
You have successfully passed the King’s trail and now you are standing on the bike trail again, but you will not enjoy it for long. If you look up the slope, you can see large stones some 15 metres from the trail. Climb to them and look for a mysterious inscription saying “Talofa” on one of them which is upright, flat and about 4m high. Talofa is a greeting word meaning something like welcome or good morning. What is interesting is the fact, that this greeting is used in the island of Samoa in the Pacific. Who wrote it here and why? Does it have anything to do with the Guard? You can think about it, but one thing is sure – the C indication is located approximately 0,5 m from the inscription.
4th stage – Guard stone
Return to the bike trail and continue along it downstream. Walk for about 300 metres until you come across a trigonometric point/guard stone grown in two trees – it is on the left, some 5 m from the trail. Not far from this stone there is a maple with three trunks growing in the slope. Hidden in its roots you will find the formula and all the necessary information.
Have you found it? Now you just have to find the Guard and the cache. Good luck!!!
When you have found the cache, you can try a popular joke on the King’s trail/shortcut: Sit down at the bike trail and prepare something which will draw attention, e.g. put on a diving suit. Wait for a biker who is not too fast riding along the bike trail along the river, make them notice you, wave to them, wish them a nice journey – simply, do something for them to remember you and when they have passed, hurry up the shortcut through the gap to the other side. Sit by the river and wait until the biker arrives................. :)
It should have been a multicache. However, when I had failed three times to get better GPS accuracy than 25 metres in the deep Ohre valley, I decided to use a Letterbox Hybrid variant – i.e. combination of both games: GEOCACHING (searching on the basis of GPS coordinates) and LETTERBOXING (searching by using various indications - www.letterboxing.org). You will need your GPS only to find the starting point, maybe not even that. Then you can throw it into the river. The cache contains a stamp which the letterbox seekers stamp in their books – PLEASE DO NOT TAKE IT AWAY!!! I hope you will enjoy this cache even without using a GPS.
