For security reasons the cache is not located at the stated co-ordinates.


Why is this location so significant given that William Roy was born on the 4th May 1726 in Miltonhead, near Carluke, Lanarkshire, Scotland?

At the given co-ordinates you will find an upturned gun barrel and a bronze plate to commemorate the 200th birthday of William Roy. It is from this plate that you need to obtain the information to help you find the cache.

A = the number of letters in the 1st word on the 2nd line
B = the number of letters in the 5th word on the 8th line
C = the day of the month King George III inspected the work.
D = the number of letters in the last word on the 12th line
E = … determined by Clarke in …. - Last digit of the number

This cache has been placed for cachers who did not have the opportunity to research the now archived cache GC1JAM9 set by Kewfriend. As drsolly stated in his log of March 8th 2009 ‘Every geocacher should make a pilgrimage to here’

There is no vehicle parking close to the stated co-ordinates, but 'Play and Display' parking is available close to nearby cache GC18EZ1
