Geocache Description:

Third cache in a short series placed by the Surrey Climbers – aka Merstham Mafia and Purple Pineapple.

When completing Rebus’s excellent Guildford to Horsham series recently, we discovered some lovely old railway bridges that were crying out for extreme caches. We do not recommend that you complete these caches at the same time as the rest of the series unless you are happy to walk a considerable distance carrying heavy climbing equipment!

It is a small cache with a log book and space for a few small TBs or coins. Please bring your own pen.

This is an EXTREME cache and you undertake to find it at your own risk. By attempting this cache, you are accepting responsibility for having received proper instruction in the techniques and equipment necessary for the retrieval of this cache, and you are accepting responsibility for any injuries incurred to yourself or any you inflict on others as a result of retrieving this cache. The description on this page makes no attempt to offer instruction of any kind. If you do not have the required expertise or equipment, don’t do this cache – anyone desperate to have a go can contact us and we will endeavour to find a time to take you there with our gear –please cache safely!

There is no access from the bottom up to the cache site. The cache should be retrieved by abseiling down to it. You will then need to be able to switch to an ascending device to get back to the top. It is not possible to continue your decent to ground level unless you want to get very wet in a river! This cache should not be attempted without a safety rope and belayer.

As this is an extreme cache - we are following Cache U Nutter's lead - for a cacher or caching team to log the cache, we would expect YOU to retrieve or replace it. If caching in a group, please post a photo to show that all are 'entitled' to log it - plus it gives us some nice photos on the cache page - thanks!
