This little cemetery is one of the oldest in Junction City. Resting on only a half acre, the cemetery was abandoned due to a high winter water table in the area. The earliest recorded burial was in 1859, 13 years before Junction City became a town. The last recorded burial was in 1912. There has been some restoration work done here, but not all of the grave markers have been found. Some records list 21 people buried here, but there are probably others.
Upkeep of the cemetery used to be done solely by a couple named the Modes in the late 1970s who built a fence and repaired many of the gravestones. Care is now done by the Junction City Historical Society. There is an informational brochure on the flag pole, so you can read
about who is buried here.
Please be respectful of this area and rehide the cache well.
Congratulations prayerwalker for being FTF!!
