Jiyuu Gakuen Myounichi Kan
Here is an important cultural asset specification building of the country constructed by the design of great master architect Frank Lloyd Wright in the United States in 1921.
The space is continued and the design assumed to be a single-piece construction also has the view with the lead of frame wall (2×4 [kouhou]). The building of the mortar painting distributes the east classroom building and the west classroom building that expands right and left around a central building to a strict symmetry in wooden and having imaged the Byodo-in Chinese phoenix temple in Nara : symmetry.

自由学園明日館
東京近代建築シリーズ #02
ここは、アメリカの巨匠建築家フランク・ロイド・ライトの設計により1921年に建築された、国の重要文化財指定建物です。
空間を連続させて一体構造とする設計は、枠組壁式構法（２×４構法）の先駆けとの見方もあります。木造で漆喰塗の建物は、中央棟を中心に、左右に伸びた東教室棟、西教室棟を厳密なシンメトリーに配しておりシンメトリックさは、奈良の平等院鳳凰堂をイメージしたのだとか。
ライトは建設途中でアメリカに帰国してしまったそうで、正面に向かって右側の教室棟は、そのあとを引き継いだ遠藤新による設計だそうです。よって、設計はライドと遠藤新の共同の作品ということになるようです。そのため左右の教室棟は、細かい部分で違いが見られるとの事。
日本でライトが設計した建物はわずか数件で、現存しそのまま利用されているのは、わずかに二件であり、そのうちの一件がこの明日館なのだそうです。
見学時間 10:00〜16:00（入館は30分前まで） 第3金曜日のみ夜間見学18:00〜21:00あり、月曜休館
