Geocache Description:

A traditional cache (my first) in the Bargate Woods above Godalming. Some steepish paths or steps, but nothing you haven't done before. Enjoy, I will watch the logs with interest.

Start from either of the waypoints listed.

Why "Beyond Narnia"? Well, when you get onto the path you will see that you are in the woods, and yet, at Rest Point 1 (see waypoint P4 below) you will find a lamp post and bench. Certainly very Narnia to me and the kids who have affectionalely named this the "Narnia Walk".

This whole area used to be used to quarry Bargate stone, and you may still see pieces of it lying around.

To get to the final cache location, you need to head up the steps to the right of the bench as you look at it, and after that you're into unexplored country.

Box is Lock 'n' Lock 12cm square box and at the time of setting it contained the following items:

  • Log book
  • Pencil
  • Hippo Magic Bean
  • Lion Magic Bean
  • Dungeons and Dragons Minature Were Rat Model
  • North Star Thermo Bug (TB) - my first TB to go out
  • Travel Bear (TB)
  • Big Ben Geocoin
  • and, most importantly, a FTF Certificate for the lucky first adventurer.

If you are very stealthy and come at dawn/dusk, you may get to see some of the family of foxes that live nearby (not in immediate area of cache).

Beware of muggles with dogs, this is quite a popular dog walking route.

When you get close, use P5 to get down to the cache's level, other ways in can be blocked by trees. And, as a final direction, you may need to duck to get close enough to retrieve the cache, so I hope you don't mind getting your trousers dirty!

Happy hunting.
