Kwaggaspruit CITO Event
Please join us on the 27th February 2010 at the Kwaggaspruit
Nature Resort, to clean up the stream and small dam. We will meet
at the listed waypoint that provides also parking to all the
cachers at 08H00 and start the cleaning process at 08H30.
Kwaggaspruit Resort
Take note that this Resort is not yet open to the public. The
Tshwane Council has indicated to us that they would appreciate if
the geo-cachers can help with the cleaning of this stream before
this Resort hopefully opens later in the year. Please state at the
gate you are a geo-cacher and the guard will gladly let you into
the Resort.
Please note that most of the river banks are very deep and
steep, thus some of us will experience a 3.5 star terrain rating,
but if you are not able to get to the difficult parts, you can
assist on the banks or on the dam overflow areas.
What will be provided?
Trash bags will be donated by the Tshwane parks manager. All the
trash bags will be placed together and the Tshwane Council will
remove them at a later stage.
All the cachers will have free entry to this Reserve on this day
for the cleanup process. (Just mention at the gate you are a
geocacher).
You must bring the following items:
- Bring your own drinking water, as there is no clean drinking
water available.
- Bring your own gloves.
- Bring your own snack, as the day might be long.
- A special stick with a pointy tip is very handy to get trash
out of icky places.
- Water boots or a long stick to retrieve trash on the river
banks.
- Soap and Towels; this is to clean yourself after the
event.
After all the trash bags have been
collected:
We will get together on site for a group photo with the evidence
from the days successes in the background. The Kwaggaspruit Nature
Resort has open braai facilities that we have permission to use
after the cleanup process to relax after the hard day’s
efforts. This will form a “bring and braai” just to
relax in this area.
