Geocache Description:

As this is my last attempt at cache setting, I thought I'd better have a go at one of these circular series of caches that seem to be all the rage - a nice circular walk with a cache every 601 ft or so, you know the ones. Anyway, I have decided that a total of 25 caches is more than enough to maintain, so here is my attempt with limited resources. The above co-ordinates are for parking at South Brewham Church - there is nothing hidden at this location.

This is a triangular series of caches (I could only afford to buy and stock three more Ammo Boxes) but think of all the small plastic containers you won't have to find on your way round!

Please don't attempt this series during or immediately after prolonged, heavy rain - you may get more than your feet wet.

The start is in South Brewham. Visit the church yard and find the following information:

How many bell ropes in the porch?

Number of ropes = A

Go behind the church and find the headstone marking the grave of Edward Barnes.

He fell asleep on the ? of July - Use this number for B.

In what year did he fall asleep? Use these numbers for CDEF.

How old was he when he fell asleep? This will give you GH

You will find the first cache at:

51° E F . (A+G) (D-B) G

002° B (A+B) . G C (F+C)

Check sum for all figures in Lat and Long = 52

You are looking for an ammo box. No expensive goodies this time, just a few toys. Please take your time to rehide well. This has been muggled once and found by accident a number of times as log has been signed by finders. Its in a good hiding place if care is taken with the string and foliage.

To find, walk up the hill, along the road and continue until you reach a footpath (farm track) on the right that leads between a duck house and a shed on staddle stones. Walk down this footpath (track) and then follow the footpath that branches off to the left (second entrance) heading towards the first cache.

Inside the lid of the cache you will find the co-ordinates of the second. In the second, you will find the co-ordinates of the third.

The walk is around five miles (allow 3-4 hours) and takes in some varied scenary around South Brewham and Bruton. During the walk, you will pass the Bruton Dam Cache (GCK6EH) but as you haven't gathered any of the clues, unless your cacher's eye is particuarly effective, you are unlikey to add this to your tally.

Don't waste your time looking for A Walk Around a Wood 1-9, 11-19 and 21-29 as they don't exist but if you would like to imagine where I could have hidden a collection of 35mm film containers and small clip lock boxes, please do so. The numbering was just to get your initial interest!

You will find an OS Landranger 183 (or better) extremely useful as although the the paths are mostly signed, there are lots of fields, and stiles in various hedges and fences, to cross.

I hope you enjoy this series. Sorry you only get to find three caches en-route but its not about the numbers is it?
