Geocache Description:

A large ammo box on the ground by a tree in Hobo Bay.

My son and I placed this cache on our last Prince William Sound trip September 9th to Hobo Bay. Ever since he saw the name in the Cruising guide he wanted to check it out. There is good anchorage just off shore from the Cache Coordinates, and it’s a short walk to its location. The cache is a large ammo box so contents should be dry. Think we tossed in some fishing tackle and a Geo Coin retrieved from a cache on Knight Island early in the season. I gave the cache 4.5 stars for terrain because you obviously need a boat; the actual hike to the cache requires only a little bushwhacking. Difficulty got 2.5 but don’t think it should be hard to find. We hiked around the area in the rain for a couple of hours, lots of artifacts to be found. We’ll definitely return in the spring or early summer to find the abandon mine, and check on the cache. My Son came up with the name, his lunch Box at school is an ammo box; it never gets mixed up of lost. Prince William Sound, our summer playground.
