The cache is not at the above co-ordinates, but the answer to the clue is! This is a simple offset cache as part of the Church Micro series. You will need to solve the clue below and walk for the specified distance on the bearing below to find the cache. You will find a compass useful. You are looking for a magnetic 35mm cannister.
Saint Matthias Church is a grade 2 listed building built in 1858. The main part of the church was built in 1857-8 to the design of Sir George Gilbert Scott, the upper part of the tower and spire being completed in 1861-2. The choir vestry was added in 1884 (John Oldrid Scott); All Saints' Chapel in 1915 (Cecil Hare); the clergy vestry in the same year; and the mezzanine inserted, with the provision of meeting rooms, toilets, kitchen, crèche and so on, in 1975-8 (Hutchison, Locke and Monk). Stained glass by Wailes (sanctuary c1861, and west rose 1868) and Hardman (some N and S aisle windows); screen and organ Case by Sir A Blomfield; Sanctuary fittings by Hare 1908-9, with additional panelling by Pearce in 1934; Chancel ceiling decorations pre-1909, redecorated by Campbell Smith & Co 1992.
The co-ordinates above should place you right outside the main doors below the circular window. Look up. Count the number of segments in the circular window. A = number of segments.
To find the cache, you will need to walk a number of meters on a particular bearing (a compass will be useful). Here is how to calculate the bearing and distance.
Bearing:
Bearing = A multiplied by 10
Distance:
Distance (in meters) = A multiplied by 2
Please take care if you have small children with you since the church is on the corner of a busy main road.
