Geocache Description:

Listed coordinates are for the "Warriors Gate." One of the gated entrances to Central Park. Each gate was named by Olmsted and Vaux, the park's designers, for the type of person they anticipated entering the park from that area. The cache is not there, but is a short walk away.

Called by some the "Army and Navy Gate" this gate celebrates the warriors that have protected society for centuries, from knights touring back and forth across the countryside protecting damsels in distress, to our modern Army protecting our rights. I have based this puzzle on another ancient puzzle, itself based on a game that also celebrated the warrior and war, known by some as the "Royal Game." Take your own tour of the field of war, and see if you can win the battle and extract the coords you need to find the final.

Good Luck!

By the way, you can assume the 40, and the 73, just to make it a bit easier. But don't assume anything else. You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.

"The Gates of Central Park" has been awarded BEST CACHE SERIES for 2009 by the Metro New York Geocaching Society! Thanks to the members, and to everyone who has found these caches in the past year!
