I went to a book store the other night to find a good travel book.
I was browsing the Canadian travel section when a woman came up to
me and pointed to a book about early November winter's in Canada.
"That one there is just yummy!" she declared. I'd expected a
Canadian accent. Instead, I heard a voice that was perfect for
singing delta blues and jazz in an echo chamber.
We'd talked about the book for a bit when a man approached. She
took his arm and introduced us. "This is Oscar," she trilled. "He
just loves travel books. Why, about the only thing he loves as much
as me and travel books is golf."
He blushed and said, "Well, now... I sure loved those tango lessons
we took last month." Then he proceeded to dance around the aisle.
"Not bad for a Yankee," she teased. Then she gasped and held her
hand out. "Now where are my manners? My name is Juliett
Sierra."
Once introductions were done the cheerful couple told me all about
travel books they'd read. Juliett picked up a book from the shelf
and said, "This one by Charlie Victor is just divine. He brews the
best wiskey on the east side of the Mississippi! Yum! I can just
about taste it..."
"What about that one?" Oscar said, pointing to a book by Jahinder
Gupta. "This man from India writes about some great
adventures."
I turned to look at the book and the next thing I knew... Oscar and
Juliett were doing the foxtrot down the aisle, right past my
friend, Mike.
Cache is small/micro so please bring a pen or pencil.
