Geocache Description:

The co-ordinates above are for the lower car park at Oaks Park, Carshalton. There is a café and toilets in the park The car park closes at dusk, although there are several parking places outside the gates. You pass ‘Get to the Root of the Problem’ and ‘Purple View’ on the circuit, and ‘If you see a log, tag it’ and ‘Elementary my dear Watson’ are only a short diversion.

This cache is on a circuit of nine individual caches. They are all quite simple one-stage puzzles and the title of each should give you a good idea what the puzzle is about. We hope that you find them fun, educational, but solvable. You can do as many of the caches as you wish and the total length of the walk to collect all nine caches is approximately 2 miles. All caches are very easy to find – look for the most obvious hiding place and read the clue. If you need help in solving any of the puzzles please do not hesitate to ask as we want you to be able to solve them.

The Oaks, the house originally on this site, was once owned by The Earl of Derby and the classic horse race, ‘The Oaks’ run at Epsom, is named after the house. Part of the garden of the old house IS incorporated into the park. The Sutton Countryside Walk and The London Loop both pass through the park.

The gps reading was rather variable and will be worse when the trees are in leaf, so the clue should lead you in the right direction. . The terrain difficulty is for the whole circuit. It can get muddy in places.

A nice easy one for the start of the circuit. Just add up the colours to find the cache at: N51 20.ABC W00 10.DEF. There is a Certificate for the FTF

When I'm out caching I carry a supply of replacement log sheets so that I can help out the cache owner by carrying out any maintenance that's required. If anybody would like to replace any logs that need urgent servicing in my caches, please do so and mention it in your log.
