Saint Mary and All Saints.
The church stands inside a brick wall enclosure. Built on the
site of a roman settlement and villa. The present church, listed
Grade I, was built over 1000 years ago, re-using materials from the
villa. Radiocarbon dating of the wooden window-sill on the north
side was pre-conquest (1066) and centered on 1000 AD.
The Victorians gave the church its present appearance and its
greatest treasure the French stained glass (East Window) from the
12th century. The glass was bought in 1839 by the Revd B D Hawkins
from the cure of Chenu, near Tours.
The church is the only church in the village.
