Avant 1926, ce coin de terre connu sous le nom de"Crowford
Park"comportait une érablière et appartenait aux familles Crowford
& Aubertin de même qu'à la Greater Montreal Land Co.
En 1927, le parc fut nommé d'après J.B.Arthur Angrignon, échevin de
Côte Saint-Paul pendant de nombreuses années.
En 1944, un projet pour en faire un zoo était sur les planches à
dessin, mais a vite avorté, faisant et ce jusqu'en 1989, la demeure
d'hiver pour les animaux du Jardin des Merveilles du parc
Lafontaine.
Accessible par métro, autobus, bicyclette ou auto, ce parc de 107
hectares aux limites des arrondissements du Sud-Ouest, de Verdun et
de Lasalle, est très fréquenté en toute saison par les amateurs de
plein air.
Un étang de 1,1 km de long situé au centre du parc voit ses eaux
être renouvelées de mai à novembre par un système de pompage relié
au canal de l'Aquaduc. |

Before 1926 this peace of land was known as Crawford Park and
it was a Maple grove belongning to the Crowford & Aubertin
families and to the Greater Montreal Land Co.
In 1927, the Park was named after J.B.Arthur Angrignon, Côte
Saint-Paul City councillor for many years.
By 1944 a grand scheme was hatched to turn it into a zoo, but the
project fizzled out. It remained the winter home for the animals
from Lafontaine Park’s, Jardin des Merveilles zoo until 1989
when the city went out of the zoo business for good.
Accessible by metro, bus, bicycle or car, this 107 acres Park at
boroughs limits of Sud-Ouest, Verdun and Lasalle, is highly
attended all year round by open air enthousiasts.
From May to November, waters of the 1.1 km long pond in the middle
of the Park are refreshed by a pumping system connected to the
Canal de l'Aquaduc. |
