Geocache Description:

La maison-exposition d'un artiste niçois connu et reconnu.



De son vrai nom Benjamin Vautier, Ben est un artiste connu pour ses performances, installations et peintures. Pour le grand public, sa notoriété vit le jour à partir des années 1960, à travers notamment ses « écritures » déclinées sous diverses formes. Parmi toutes ses nombreuses créations, on lui doit notamment les graphismes accompagnant les stations du nouveau tramway de Nice.

Cette cache se propose de vous faire découvrir sa maison-exposition, qualifiée de chef d'oeuvre « d'art brut », sur les hauteurs de Nice. Au cours du trajet, vous aurez l'occasion d'apprécier plusieurs vues plongeantes sur Nizza-la-Bella.

Vous pouvez vous y rendre :

* en voiture (stationnements proches possibles pour quelques véhicules -PARK1 ou PARK2- en amont ou en aval des larges virages)
* en bus (le 63, toutes les 40 minutes en semaine, départ de Las Planas, terminus du Tram) ou de Borriglione (station de même nom du Tram). Descendre à l'un des arrêts Route d'Aspremont ou Collet Pioum (ce dernier est sans doute celui qui vous permettra de mieux apprécier le site avant de vous en approcher).
Pour info : Tram + Bus = 1 euro / personne.

Les distances à parcourir n'excéderont pas les 250 mètres mais soyez prudents, si la circulation n'est pas intense, la sinuosité de la route, large mais sans réels trottoirs, occulte la vision des automobilistes comme la vôtre.

Les coordonnées indiquées vous conduisent en fait aux pieds du domaine de l'artiste. Placez vous de l'autre côté de la route pour une meilleure visibilité. Toutes les recherches et la cache elle-même se situent en effet sur le domaine public et il n'est nul besoin de visiter les lieux. Observez les « objets » divers et variés exposés et notez sur l'un d'eux la déclaration lapidaire suivante :

"LES ARTISTES NE SONT PAS ___ ______ _ ____".

Complètez les quatre mots manquants, toute la phrase est nécessaire pour trouver les coordonnées finales de la cache. Voici comment :

Intéressez-vous aux seules voyelles utilisées (A, E, I, O) et comptez pour chacune d'elles leur répétition. Vous obtenez :
A = ? (nombre de répétions), E = ? (idem), etc

La cache se trouve aux coordonnées : N 43° 44.PPQ, E 007°14.XYZ où :
P = A + E - O
Q = I + O
X = E + I + O
Y = I
Z = A - O


Vous recherchez un contenant cylindrique de 6,5 cm de haut et de 4 cm de diamètre. L'endroit n'est guère fréquenté par les piétons mais restez vigilants tout de même, notamment vis-à-vis de la circulation.

The house that serves as an exhibition for a well-known and recognized artist from Nice.
Ben,(his real name is Benjamin Vautier) is an artist well known for his performances, installations and paintings. For the public, his reputation dates back to the 1960s, mainly from his « écritures » appearing in many forms.Among his numerous creations the handwritten messges appearing on the tram stations are a product of his artistry.

This cache will give you the opportunity to discover his house-exhibition, known as a masterpiece « d'art brut », in the hills above Nice. On your way, you will have the pleasure of enjoying many great plunging views on Nizza-la-Bella.

To get there :

* by car (parking is available nearby for a few vehicles -PARK1 or PARK2- above or below the large curves of the road)
* by bus (#63, every 40 minutes weekdays, leaving from Las Planas, the Tram terminus) or from Borriglione (Tram station with the same name). Get off at one of Route d'Aspremont or Collet Pioum bus stops (this last one will give you the best view on the site before getting close to it).
For info : Tram + Bus = 1 euro / person

You will not have to walk more than 250 meters, but be careful, although there is not much traffic, the many curves in the road which is wide but without sidewalks make it difficlut for drivers to se you or for you to see them.

The coordinates will take you to a spot at the foot of the artist's property. Go to the other side of the road for a better view. Everything that you need is located on public ground and you do not need to enter the property. Have a good look at the numerous « objects » that are displayed and note on one of them the following sentence :

"LES ARTISTES NE SONT PAS ___ ______ _ ____".

Complete the sentence with the last 4 words. You will need the whole of the sentence since all the words are needed to find the final coordinates of the cache. Here is how :

You only need to be concerned with the vowels (A, E, I, O) and count how many of each are used in the sentence. You will have :
A = ? (number of times), E = ? (the same), etc

The cache is at coordinates: N 43° 44.PPQ, E 007°14.XYZ where :
P = A + E - O
Q = I + O
X = E + I + O
Y = I
Z = A - O

You are searching for a 6.5cm by 4 cm cylinder. The area does not see many pedestrians, but still be watchful, specially for traffic.
