Geocache Description:

This is a simple magnetic cache located close to Christ Church Frome. The cache container is not a micro and can takes geocoins and a number of small swaps.

Christ Church dates from 1814, when it was decided that Frome needed an extra church to serve the 8500 souls who lived in the town. Up until then, Frome had only two churchs, on in the town and one out at Woodlands. Therefore a subscription was raised to enable the building and endowment of the church.

With the money raised, half an acre of ground was acquired and conveyed by deed into the possession of the Registrar of the Bishop’s Court at Wells.

This church, which was to be called Christ Church was built in the years 1817 and 1818, and was consecrated September 15, 1818. The expense of building it, including quarrying stones, carriage, and all incidentals, was about £3,900 and The Rev. Joseph Algar, M. A. at that time Curate of Frome, was nominated Minister of the said Church by the Rev. Charles Phillott, M. A. Vicar of Frome.

The cache is a magnetised box capable of taking geocoins and swaps, it is not a 35mm film canister.

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.

The cache when orginally deployed contained the following:

log book and pencil
path-tag holder
and as a First to Find prize: an unregistered geocoin.

***Congratulations to somersetsmithys on their FTF!! Hopefully the first of many. Happy caching!***
